Silent Hill - A small New England town founded in the late 18th or early 19th Century by a group of settlers making it a penal colony. The most noticeable group in Silent Hill is a corrupted version of Gnostic Christianity known simply as The Order. This cult has been divided in three different sects (although still connected) with the time. The Valtiel sect, the Holy Mother sect and the Saint Ladies sect.
- Old Silent Hill – Primarily residential area, usually ignored by people on vacation.
- *Midwich Elementary School – An elementary school in the southwest corner of Old Silent Hill. The only school actually shown in the game. Alessa was a student there and so was Lisa Garland.
*Balkan Church – A legitimate church, possibly Protestant, in Old Silent Hill. Virtually ignored by members of The Order. Henry has a photograph of the church in his bedroom.
Central Silent Hill – Business district made primarily for the use of tourists.
- *Silent Hill Police Station – The headquarters of the Silent Hill police force and their (ineffective) war on Order-related drug trafficking.
*Silent Hill Towne Center – A shopping mall located in the northwestern section of Central Silent Hill. Dahlia Gillespie’s antique store (and secret chapel) is next door to the mall.
*Alchemilla Hospital – A hospital located in Central Silent Hill. The hospital serves as a front for the production and distribution of White Claudia. Alessa was once a patient there.
Silent Hill (resort area) – The tourist destination on the north side of Toluca Lake.
- *The Lighthouse – The lighthouse on Toluca Lake, one of the town’s oldest structures.
*Lakeside Amusement Park – A theme park overlooking the lake.
*Lakeview Hotel – A fine resort hotel on the north shore of Toluca Lake.
*The Church – The central place of worship of The Order. Exact location is only known to Order members.
South Vale – The mainly residential, non-tourist destination town on the south side of Toluca Lake.
- *Observation Deck – A scenic overlook along County Road 73 adjacent to a wooded hiking path.
*Woodside Apartments – An apartment complex built just next to the Blue Creek Apartments.
*Blue Creek Apartments – A small apartment building. Angela Orosco lived there.
*Rosewater Park – A park on the south shore of Toluca Lake. Contains a memorial to the people lost in the 1918 disappearance of the Little Baroness.
*Heaven’s Night – A gentleman’s club enjoying moderate fame in South Vale.
*Brookhaven Hospital – A hospital in South Vale. Originally founded in the 1860s as a Civil War field hospital.
*Silent Hill Historical Society – A historical museum on the edge of South Vale.
*Toluca Prison – A now-defunct prison originally used to house Civil War POWs. Exact location is not stated in the games, however it appears to be located beneath the Historical Society building. Possibly the building was built over the site of the unused prison. Though this may just be caused by James' dilusions, it is highly likely based on where James exits the Labyrinth that connects to it.
Toluca Lake – The lake, surrounded by forests, upon which the town of Silent Hill was founded.
- *Wish House(aka Hope House) – A secluded, Order-run orphanage in the woods outside of Silent Hill.
*The Water Prison(aka Cylinder Prison, aka Panopticon) – A jail used by The Order to punish and brainwash the children living in the Wish House. While a stay there was used as a form of punishment, most of the childrens stays were scheduled. Most likely situated within a mile or two of Wish House.
