::This may or may not contain spoilers:: Do not continue if you are unsure you want to hear them::

Silent Hill 1
    * Harry Mason is a writer and a single father. Seven years before the start of the game, Harry and his terminally ill wife found an infant abandoned at the side of the road near Silent Hill. They adopted the girl and named her Cheryl. After his wife's death, Harry continued to raise Cheryl alone. Several years ago Harry and Cheryl went to Silent Hill for a vacation. As they neared town, Harry's jeep left the road when Harry swerved to avoid a pedestrian. Upon waking after the crash, Harry found himself alone in Silent Hill and on a quest to find his lost daughter. Along the way, Harry learned the truth: that his daughter was connected to a cult operating in Silent Hill and she was part of a grand scheme by the cult to give life to a demon. Harry was able to defeat the demon and before he escaped, he was given a new infant girl. For further information on Harry and the infant, see the Silent Hill 3 section below.
    * Cheryl Mason is Harry's seven-year-old adopted daughter. When she and her father went to Silent Hill on vacation, she disappeared. She was drawn to the town through mystical purposes further explained below in the segment about Alessa Gillespie.
    * Cybil Bennett is a police officer from Brahms, a town neighboring Silent Hill. She was sent to investigate her precinct's lack of communication with the Silent Hill police and was drawn into the strange world of the town. She quickly befriends Harry and helps him to find his daughter. As she is the only character not inexorably vital to the plot line, her fate can change due to the player’s actions during the game. As with James/Laura in Silent Hill 2, it seems that the monsters may only be part of the central character's experience (except for Kaufmann who identifies with them and is seen wrestling with a claw finger in a pool hall in the resort); Cybil implies she has seen no monsters, although she does acknowledge that the roads leading away from town are unusable, along with her police radio and the local telephones, and near the end of the game she is attacked by a parasite, similar to those found infecting the staff of Alchemilla Hospital.
    * Dr. Michael Kaufmann is the director of medical staff at Alchemilla Hospital. Harry comes to discover that Kaufmann is a high-ranking member of the cult in Silent Hill. He was one of the people who arranged Alessa’s birth and medical care. In addition to operating the cult, Kaufmann is also a drug lord, dealing exclusively in the hallucinogen PTV, derived from a local narcotic called White Claudia. He dispenses this drug to many members of the hospital staff, getting them addicted to ensure their loyalty.
    * Lisa Garland was a nurse on the staff of Alchemilla Hospital. Like many of the members of the hospital staff, she was addicted to White Claudia and would perform any request of Dr. Kaufmann to keep him from cutting off her supply. One of the duties Lisa had to perform was taking care of the comatose Alessa Gillespie; as Heather in Silent Hill 3, Alessa recounts her memories of Lisa fondly. As the game progresses Lisa slowly realises that she is a monster, which explains how she is trapped in the Otherworld. Lisa, as stated in a few Silent Hill guides and walkthroughs, in the game was a "ghost". She was a manifestation, from Alessa's fond memories of her, in the Otherworld. However, she was essentially no different than the other monsters Alessa created. In a way Lisa was being used by Alessa to stop or at the very least slow Harry's quest to find his daughter. By playing on Harry's desire to help and do the right thing perhaps he would stop his search of the Otherworld which would in turn would stop Dahlia from discovering her hiding place there. Lisa was killed by Dr. Kaufmann, presumably in order to stop her going to the authorities with her knowledge of Alessa and the drug racket.
    * Dahlia Gillespie is an eccentric old woman who owns an antique store in Silent Hill. Underneath this façade, Dahlia is a key member of the Silent Hill cult and the mastermind behind Alessa’s birth and injury. Dahlia is Alessa's mother, though their relationship was anything but loving. Dahlia coerced Harry, via his quest to find his missing daughter, into helping her find and subdue Alessa in the Otherworld so she could make the girl birth the God. Upon the God’s birth, Dahlia was killed by either the Holy Woman in White(Incubator) or by Incubus.
    * Alessa Gillespie is the enigamtic aparation that Harry Mason encounters during his journey into the hellish town at the start of the game. It is revealled that Alessa was originally meant to take in her mother's footsteps and become a Priestess of the Holy Woman sect. When Dahlia and the other cult members found out about her powers they decided that Alessa would be the perfect vessel for God. It is speculated that Dahlia is Alessa's birth mother and that Dr. Kauffman is the biological father. Alessa, who was troubled by many psychological problems, refused to take part in the cult’s activities. In order to hasten the birth of God Dahlia burned down her house with Alessa inside. Alessa would then split her soul in half and create a new baby. This baby would be found by Harry Mason and his wife. She would be named Cheryl Mason. Alessa would spend the next seven years in a coma. Upon Cheryl’s return to Silent Hill, Alessa would send out her soul. After Harry crashes, the souls of Cheryl and Alessa merge. At the final battle the physical Alessa clad in the robes of Valtiel and the Soul of Alessa are merged and form the Holy Woman in White aka Incubator aka God. When Dr Kaufmann throws a bottle of Aglaphotis on the God she transforms into a rank goat like being known as Incubus. Once the Incubus is weakened it transforms into the Holy Woman in White. She gives Harry a baby with the complete soul of Alessa and Cheryl. For more information on this child, see the Silent Hill 3 section below.
Notes: It has been speculated, although not confirmed that either Alessa or Incubus is the yellow God Lobsel Vith.

Silent Hill 2

    * James Sunderland is a young man drawn to Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his wife, who had died three years earlier. Near the end of James' strange odyssey, he comes to realize the truth about his wife’s death: that she did not die three years earlier of a fatal illness, but in fact died fairly recently when he euthanized her. There has even been speculation that her body is in the car, probably in the trunk as to remain out of view. This would lend to the theory that the 'In Water' ending is the true ending; James came, with the body, to their 'special place' to commit suicide alongside his wife in a place full of memories. The implication is that he suffered a nervous breakdown or psychotic break after killing his wife and blocked the three years of her illness from his memory. James' ultimate fate is dependent on which ending is achieved, based on the player's actions during the course of the game. In one ending, James comes to accept what he did to Mary, forgives himself and leaves Silent Hill, possibly taking Laura as his adopted daughter as Mary wanted ('Leave'). In another ending, he comes to terms with his loss of Mary by beginning a relationship with Maria (see below.) In yet another ending, James cannot live with his guilt and commits suicide ('In Water'). And in yet another ending, James decides to resurrect Mary using the dark supernatural powers of Silent Hill ('Rebirth'). Once the previous four endings are completed, a fifth, comedic, ending can be unlocked where James finds out that all the scenario was the work of a dog in the observation tower in the Hotel. In some special editions of the game, there is a sixth ending where James is confronted by Harry Mason and a group of UFO's who abduct him. While there is no single correct ending, both the actions of James, himself, and the details of Silent Hill 4 seem to point that James (and Mary) never come back from their trip to the town.
    * Mary Sheperd-Sunderland was James' late wife; however, unlike the three years that he claims she's been gone, it's much more likely that she has only been dead for a week or so. She had long been suffering from a terminal illness, but died instead when James smothered her with a pillow after he couldn't stand to watch her suffer anymore. Her disease is never mentioned by name, but it confined her to bed for three years and possibly disfigured her physically, as well as made her verbally abusive to those around her from the agony it kept her in. In the game, James’ guilt takes Mary’s form as Maria, haunting him relentlessly.
    * Angela Orosco is a young woman of about SIXTEEN who James meets in Silent Hill. She states that she is searching for her mother. Very little explicit information is revealed about her, save that she was very dependent on her mother for comfort and that her father, Thomas, repeatedly raped and otherwise abused her. Clues throughout the game imply that Angela’s mother convinced her that she deserved to be raped, and that eventually the poor woman stabbed her father to death with a kitchen knife and ran away. When James meets her, Angela seems unaware of her past, but still retains her extreme fear of physical contact. At the end of the game it seems Angela is full of guilt over her actions, unable to forgive or even justify her actions against an abusive household. Her personal demons are manifested as fires burning everywhere (possibly representing suicidal tendencies) and the Abstract Daddy monster James encounters.
    * Eddie Dombrowski is an unstable young man James meets in town. As the story progresses, James learns that Eddie, after a lifetime of ridicule, ran away from his hometown after killing a dog and shooting the dog's owner in the leg. While exploring the town, James finds a number of bodies killed execution-style, some or all of which may have been killed by Eddie. In the end, Eddie confronts James, threatening to kill him after James states that he too finds Eddie's actions repugnant. James guns Eddie down in self-defense. Eddie's demons in the town manifested as everything -- not just people, but everything -- laughing at or otherwise making fun of him, which only catered to and increased his homicidal tendencies as he was permitted to shoot anything and everything in sight.
    * Laura is a smug little girl James encounters in town several times. She claims that she was in the hospital at the same time as Mary, recently, but James refuses to believe her. Eventually, James discovers that Laura was a close friend of his dead wife's, and that Laura felt James never cared about and even hated Mary. It is implied and widely believed that Laura, being an innocent child, does not see any of the monsters the other characters encounter, and leaves Silent Hill, either with or without James depending on the ending.
    * Maria is a seductive young woman that bears a remarkable resemblance to James’ late wife. She tempts and clings to James and as the story progresses, James sees Maria repeatedly killed. In the end, James recognizes Maria for what she really is: an embodiment of lust and selfish desire, simply created to quell his feelings of guilt over what he did to Mary. Depending on the acquired ending, James either guns her down after she becomes a monster or escapes Silent Hill with her. This possible ending suggests that she will come down with the same disease that Mary had and James will inflict the same fate upon Maria as he did his wife Mary. In the sub-scenario "Born From a Wish", which is playable in either the PS2 Greatest Hits or the XBox versions of the game, players control Maria, who has only existed for a few minutes at the beginning and as such, has no idea what is going on. However, events in the scenario show the player how she transitions from being a soulless creation of the town, to the product of James' desires (hence the title "Born From a Wish") that will ultimately serve her role in James' crucible.
    * Ernest Baldwin is a misanthropic man living in a mansion of the West South Vale district. His presence is only indicated in the "Born From a wish" scenario. This man is never shown physically which leads many to believe he's already dead. He is supposed to find peace when one will finally give him an ingredient he seeks for a ritual that is supposed to rebirth his dead little girl, Amy. Even though this character seems more or less unrelated to the events of the second game, his role seems more to approach the one of a God revealing to Maria her true identity and her part behind the James-Mary project. Some fans are also convinced that Ernest may have been the director of the Brookhaven Hospital and the one who hid the Silent Historical Society key in the Rosewater Park and left the letter about it to James. Therefore, he may be related in the way that he warns James about the mechanism of Silent Hill.

Silent Hill 3

    * Heather Morris is a seventeen-year-old girl with an attitude. Heather's real name is Cheryl Mason, the infant given to Harry by the God at the end of the first game. She is the combined souls of Cheryl Mason and Alessa Gillespie from SH1. She has lived under the pseudonym Heather since an encounter with a cult member who had tracked her and her father down in Portland (see Harry's Silent Hill 3 entry below). Since the cult’s failure in the first game, the remaining leaders spent years looking for Harry and the child. Eventually, with the help of private detective Douglas Cartland, they located Heather and lured her back to Silent Hill by killing her father. There, Heather hunted down the remaining leaders of the cult and foiled the God’s birth for a second time. After defeating the cultists, Heather abandoned her false identity and took up her real name again.
    * Douglas Cartland is a private investigator in his fifties hired by Claudia Wolf to find Heather. While investigating her, Douglas finds a lot of strange inconsistencies in the information. Douglas tracks Heather down to a shopping mall near her home. This action sparks off the strange events of the game. Eventually, Douglas takes Heather to Silent Hill so she can exact her revenge against the cultists. While driving there Douglas mentions that he went to Silent Hill once on a missing person's case to no avail. The people he mentions are probably, although not specifically stated to be, James and Mary from Silent Hill 2 (vague clues in Silent Hill 4 may support this theory). Douglas is a single divorced father. His son was killed while trying to rob a bank at an unspecified time in the past. Douglas blames himself and his financial difficulties for his son's reckless behaviour that cost him his life.
    * Claudia Wolf is a priestess of the cult, in her late twenties or early thiries. She holds a very dogmatic view of the order, in contrast to Father Vincent's more worldly attitude, and believes that to save mankind, she must find Heather, the reincarnation of Alessa and bring about the rebirth of God. To do this, she hires Douglas Cartland, who later turns on her when he finds out her agenda. Many of her beliefs can be traced back to Dahlia Gillespie who, we are told by Vincent, "brainwashed" her. She was close childhood friends with Alessa, and abused by her father, Leonard, when she was younger.
    * Father Vincent is a high priest of the Silent Hill cult, but is more interested in increasing his own powers and wealth than arranging the birth of a new demon. He indulges in the pleasures of the real world. He does not want to see the birth of "God" and the ensuing reshaping of the world into the twisted decaying Otherworld. He gives Heather some left-handed advice, but in the end, Claudia kills him when he tries to betray her. He seems to know a great deal about the Otherworld and how it relates to the real world. In a key cut-scene, he accuses Heather of being a hypocrite after killing so many (he remains ambiguous about how many whats), to which Heather retorts that they were monsters out to kill her. His next sentence is, "Monsters? They look like monsters to you?" This fact on its own presents some leverage to the theory that the protagonists of each game are actually killing people, their images changed by the town's influence to appear as grotesque products of their worst nightmares, though after this sentence he does mention that it was "just a joke".
    * Leonard Wolf is Claudia's father and was once a leading member of the Silent Hill cult. He was the keeper of the Seal of Metatron, which he believes to be capable of stopping the birth of God. The player later learns that this belief is unfounded. Leonard holds a different view of "God" and paradise than his daughter. Leonard believes only a chosen few and true believers should be allowed into paradise. After stabbing Stanley Coleman in a religious argument, he was sectioned in Brookhaven Hospital. He appears to the player as a deformed monster, possibly due to Claudia's influence on the Otherworld, as we later find out that he abused his daughter.
    * Harry Mason went home with the infant given to him before leaving Silent Hill. Years later, he killed a cult member that had tracked him and his daughter down. As a result, he and Cheryl were placed in the witness relocation program and given the names Harry and Heather. Eventually, with the unknowing help of Douglas Cartland, the cult located the Masons again and killed Harry. Heather, enraged by her father’s murder traveled to Silent Hill to seek revenge. Before heading to Silent Hill, Heather found Harry’s journal and learned that he had considered killing the child out of fear of her power but was unable to do it because he loved her, no matter what.
    * Valtiel is an entity that appears numerous times in the game. He doesn't attack Heather, nor can he be killed. He is seen turning valves and at some points torturing some nurses. In the Making of Silent Hill 3 DVD, it was mentioned that the turning of valves symbolize the act of letting the "other world" flow into the normal world. Valtiel's head twitches back and forth extremely rapidly. During the final fight, he puts a veil over the God's eyes. He is a constant presence in Silent Hill 3. Some say Valtiel is a reflection of the player in some way, as both he and they are meant to keep Heather safe, and to revive her if she should die. Both parties also serve as Heather's guide to the finale, the birth of The God. This is only what some say, however, and has not been confirmed by Konami. There is also widespread player speculation that Valtiel is either Xuchilbara ("The Red God")due to his role of Rebirthing Heather and being called the Governing Angel of Rebirth. Some players speculate that he is Lobsel Vith ("The Yellow God"), both of which are "angels," lesser god-servants of The God of the Silent Hill cult.

Silent Hill 4

    * Henry Townshend is a young man in his twenties who lives in Room 302 of the South Ashfield Heights apartment building, having moved there two years ago after being "attracted" to the room in a sense he couldn't quite understand. His strange saga begins when he finds himself trapped inside his apartment with a hole in his bathroom as his only means of escape. It is theorized that his attraction was in part due to Walter's subconscious influence on him, Henry living the life of peace and tranquility inside Room 302 that Walter, himself, was denied.
    * Eileen Galvin is a young woman in her twenties who is a long time resident of the South Ashfield Heights apartment complex, in Room 303. Although she has lived next door to Henry for two years, she does not know him very well. As a young girl, she met Walter in a subway where he was homeless and shivering, and she gave him her doll to keep him warm, the only act of kindness in Walter's entire memory. As such, her image remains in his mind, and she was chosen to be the 20th Sacrament, the Mother Reborn.
    * Frank Sunderland is the superintendent of the South Ashfield Heights apartment building. Frank sees the supposed disappearance of Henry as another in the long line of strange events involving Room 302. Frank is the father of James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2.
    * Cynthia Velasquez is a very attractive and sexually provocative young woman Henry meets in the South Ashfield subway station, on his very first "adventure". Walter met her in the subway as a young man, and was disgusted when she and her friends teased him about his appearance.
    * Jasper Gein is a young man whose hobby is investigating occult activity in Silent Hill, having a fanatical desire to meet 'the Devil', as he refers to the cult's God.
    * Andrew DeSalvo is an older man who once worked monitoring the orphans at the Wish House, which was operated by the Silent Hill cult. He was a ruthless man, beating the children for misbehavior, including Walter, and often punishing them with imprisonment in the "water prison."
    * Richard Braintree is another of Henry's neighbors who is very interested in Henry's supposed disappearance. He loathes unruly behavior and desires only peace and order, and he forcibly works to get it, threatening people with his revolver. He's constantly monitoring the other tenants. When Walter was a child, trying to visit room 302, Richard yelled and threatened him, driving the boy away.
    * Joseph Schreiber was an investigative journalist who lived in Room 302 before Henry. Like Henry, strange things happened to Joseph before he disappeared entirely. In death, it became his duty as the Giver of Wisdom to pass along his knowledge of Walter, the room, and the 21 Sacraments to Henry, the Receiver of Wisdom. When you start Silent Hill 4, you most likely are playing as Joseph, because you say, "My apartment. Its covered in blood and rust." When you examine objects it says that they aren't yours, when they are. You also mention that your red typewriter is missing, but Henry doesn't have a typewriter. At the end of the game, the room looks like it did in the dream, but there is a red typewriter there with red notes Joseph wrote. One of the notes has what you said at the beginning on it, but then Joseph says, "Wait... What am I writing??"
    * Walter Sullivan was a boy who was born within Room 302 to unwilling parents, who left him to die inside the room. Frank, however, found him in time and he was rushed to nearby St. Jerome's hospital to be nourished and cared for until being sent to the Wish House Orphanage to be raised. As a child, he often traveled to the South Ashfield Heights apartment building, to Room 302, which Walter thinks is his mother. Walter is also mentioned multiple times in the second game; in a newspaper article at the Woodside Apt at the bottom of the trash chute, and his grave is found in the graveyard beneath the labyrinth.

Walter Sullivan was born in the town of Ashfield in Room 302 of the South Ashfield Heights apartment building. Just after his birth, his biological parents fled the apartment and left the newborn child behind, believing his birth to be unnatural. The infant was later discovered by the building superintendent, Frank Sunderland, who turned the child over to the nearby St. Jerome's Hospital. After a stay in the hospital, he became a ward of the state and was turned over to the Wish House orphanage in Silent Hill. It was there that he began his tutelage in the ways of The Order, the cult that operated the orphanage.

In time, after learning of his tragic birth, the young Sullivan started to believe that Room 302 itself was his mother, and the child started making weekly trips to Ashfield to visit "her", much to the dismay of the apartment's current residents. It was during this time that he met and befriended Eileen Galvin. During his youth, he learned of the "21 Sacraments", an obscure ceremony in the Order's teachings that Walter could use to "awaken" his "mother".

When Sullivan was 24, he began his killing spree, murdering 10 people in as many days, removing their hearts and carving he numbers 01121-10121 into their bodies. He made no effort to cover his tracks, even going as far as to carve his own name into the flesh of his victims. He was captured and tried, but committed suicide by stabbing himself in the neck with a spoon while in prison. He was buried in an unmarked grave near the Wish House, but three days later, a man fitting his description was seen exiting Room 302 of the South Ashfield Heights apartment building.

Three years later, another body was found, killed in a very similar manner to Sullivan's previous victims and the police suspected a copycat, as the heart was not removed, nor was a name carved into the body. Two more bodies surfaced over the next few years carved with the numbers 12121-14121. What the police failed to realize was that the numbers, 01121-14121, actually meant 01/21-14/21, meaning that Sullivan intended to kill 21 victims in all.

Through the Order's teachings, Sullivan believed that the deaths of these 21 victims would help free his "mother," Room 302, and wake her up again so that he could live within her "womb" once more, safe from the world that terrorized him. In the game, most of his victims appear as ghosts.

The first reference to this character appears in Silent Hill 2, in a newspaper article found by that game's protagonist (James Sunderland) in a trash bin at the Blue Creek Apartments building. The article stated that Walter Sullivan was a killer from nearby Pleasant River who murdered two local children (Miriam and Billy Locane) with an axe. Four days after his arrest Sullivan committed suicide as described above. There are no references to the other murders he committed up to that point in time in the article. In addition the article contains a quote from a former schoolmate from Pleasant River. In it Sullivan claimed that a "Red Devil" forced him to commit the murders.

    Victims
01/21 - Jimmy Stone: First of the Ten Hearts - Jimmy Stone was a priest in the Valtiel Sect, a division of The Order. He was nicknamed "The Red Devil" by members of the Order in reference to the triangular red hood he wore during ritualistic executions. Sullivan shot him in the back of the head inside the Wish House orphanage and removed his heart. There is a belief in the fandom that through his cult connections, Jimmy Stone became the infamous Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2.

02/21 - Bobby Randolph: Second of the Ten Hearts - Randolph was a college student who attended the same school as Sullivan. He and two of his friends, Sein Martin and Jasper, were fascinated by the mythology of The Order and tried to learn all about it. Sullivan strangled him to death, removed his heart and dumped his body on the college campus in Pleasant River alongside the third victim.

03/21 - Sein Martin: Third of the Ten Hearts - Like his friend Randolph, Martin was also interested in the legends surrounding the Order and his curiosity likely led to his death. Sullivan strangled him to death, removed his heart and dumped his body on the college campus in Pleasant River alongside Bobby Randolph.

04/21 - Steve Garland: Fourth of the Ten Hearts - Steve Garland operated a pet store in Ashfield. His murder was particularly gruesome; after Sullivan riddled his body with bullets from a submachine gun (leaving his chest undamaged so the heart could be removed), he proceeded to brutally kill all the animals in the store. Given his name, Garland could be related to Lisa Garland from Silent Hill 1, but this is neither confirmed nor denied.

05/21 - Rick Albert: Fifth of the Ten Hearts - Rick Albert was the manager of a sporting good store in Ashfield. Sullivan bludgeoned him to death with a golf club and removed his heart. He was murdered on the same day as Steve Garland.

06/21 - George Rosten: Sixth of the Ten Hearts - George Rosten was a priest in the Valtiel Sect and the right-hand man of Jimmy Stone. He personally instructed Sullivan on the 21 Sacraments, then ironically fell victim to his own teaching when Sullivan beat him to death with an iron pipe and removed his heart.

07/21 - Billy Locane: Seventh of the Ten Hearts - Billy Locaine was a child living in Silent Hill. Sullivan killed him with a single blow from an axe and removed his heart.

08/21 - Miriam Locane: Eighth of the Ten Hearts - Miriam was Billy's twin sister and killed just after her brother. Unlike Billy, who was killed with a single blow from an axe, Sullivan brutally dismembered Miriam's body before removing her heart, most likely due to his violent hatred of women. Unlike Sullivan's other victims, Billy and Miriam do not appear as ghosts but rather fused together as a monster.

09/21 - William Gregory: Ninth of the Ten Hearts - William Gregory owned the Watch and Clock store in Ashfield. Sullivan stabbed him with a screwdriver and removed his heart.

10/21 - Eric Walsh: Last of the Ten Hearts - The final victim of Sullivan's initial rampage. Walsh worked as a bartender at Bar Ashfield. On his birthday, a middle-aged customer told him that the pet store owner was murdered and the murderer was still at large, causing the bar's owner to close the bar early. Walsh then went home, only to find Sullivan waiting for him. Sullivan shot him in the face and removed his heart.

11/21 - Walter Sullivan: Assumption - After his capture, Sullivan committed suicide in his jail cell by stabbing himself in the neck with a spoon which severed his carotid artery. His body was buried in an unmarked grave near the Wish House, but after the first copycat murder, his grave was exhumed and was discovered to be empty. His body was most likely taken from its grave by his own ghost and taken to the hidden room in Room 302 to await the last of the 21 Sacraments.

12/21 - Peter Walls: Void - The first of Sullivan's postmortem victims. Walls was a notorious drug addict known for his crazed ranting. His body was found in a room in the South Ashfield Hotel. He has apparently been beaten to death.

13/21 - Sharon Blake: Darkness - Sharon Blake had been a target of the Order for some time. Her family had all been taken in by the Order, but she refused their requests (and later demands) to join. When she went looking for her family in the woods near Silent Hill, she discovered her family's gravestones, at which then Sullivan caught her and drowned her in the lake.

14/21 - Toby Archbolt: Gloom - Toby Archbolt was a priest of the Holy Mother Sect of the Order, which operated the Wish House. After the deaths of Jimmy Stone and George Rostin and the subsequent weakening of the Valtiel Sect, Archbolt tried to increase the influence of his own sect within the Order. During a trip to Mexico, Sullivan pushed Toby off of a cliff, making him the only victim in the series to be killed outside of the United States.

15/21 - Joseph Schreiber: Despair (Giver of Wisdom) - Joseph Schreiber was an investigative reporter who lived in Room 302 before Henry Townshend (see below). He was investigating the Order, which led to an exposé on the Wish House. While investigating ties between the Order and the Walter Sullivan murders, he suddenly found himself sealed inside his apartment with the only means of escape being a mysterious hole in his bathroom wall. He was Sullivan's 15th victim, but his body was never found.

16/21 - Cynthia Velasquez: Temptation - Cynthia Velasquez was a young woman living in Ashfield. Townshend met her in the South Ashfield Station where she believed herself to be dreaming. While Henry tried to find a way out of the station, Sullivan killed her by multiple stab wounds.

17/21 - Jasper Gein: Source - Jasper Gein was a somewhat mentally unbalanced youth who, along with his friends Bobby Randolph and Sein Martin, was fascinated by the mythology of the Order. While exploring the ruins of the Wish House, Sullivan immolated Gein, who seemed almost appreciative of the act. Gein went out screaming that he had seen the devil.

18/21 - Andrew DeSalvo: Watchfulness - Andrew DeSalvo was a guard at the Water Prison where children at the Wish House were sent as punishment. Somehow, he became locked in one of his own cells and, after being released by Townshend, was captured by Sullivan and drowned.

19/21 - Richard Braintree: Chaos - Richard Braintree lived in Room 207 of South Ashfield Heights. He was an eccentric, somewhat violent and possibly sadistic man. Remembering what happened to Joseph Schreiber, he becomes concerned when he notices the same thing happening again in Room 302. He tries to find a way to help Townshend, but Sullivan captured him and electrocuted him in his own apartment.

20/21 - Eileen Galvin: Mother (Mother Reborn) - Eileen Galvin, Henry's neighbor, was nearly beaten to death by Sullivan with Little Walter (a child like apparition of Walter's that split with his "spirit" after his assumption) and Townshend's interference stopping her from being killed. Though the 20th Sacrament was not complete, Sullivan was able to summon her to him to try and finish the deed.

21/21 - Henry Townshend: Wisdom (Receiver of Wisdom) - Sullivan felt that his final intended victim, the current resident of Room 302, had to die in order to purify his "mother" so she could finally be reborn and he could be reunited with her. Depending on the actions of the player, Townshend either defeats Sullivan or dies at his hands.

Minor characters (with names)

    * K. Gordon, T. Moore, L. Renaldo are members of the Midwich Elementary School faculty, named for three members of the band Sonic Youth. K. Gordon was Alessa Gillespie's teacher. She suspected that Alessa was being abused at home and even considered consulting a lawyer on what could be done about it, but Alessa was obviously injured before K. Gordon could take any action. Silent Hill Film
Note: Though it exists outside the continuity of the game series, many of the characters in the film are interpretations of game characters.

    * Rose DaSilva is the adoptive mother of Sharon DaSilva. She takes Sharon to Silent Hill to try to resolve her 'sleep-walking' problem. She loses her daughter in the town, and the story of the movie revolves around her finding Sharon.
    * Christopher DaSilva is Rose's husband, and Sharon's 'father'. He is left behind as Rose and Sharon travel to Silent Hill. Chris continuously tries to search for Rose and Sharon, knowing they are in some kind of trouble. He finds their car, and police searching for the passengers of it, and realizes something has gone wrong. At one point, he and Rose are both at the same place at the same time, and he feels her.
    * Sharon DaSilva is the 'good side' of Alessa. She was adopted by Rose and Chris DaSilva as a baby, and grew up in their care. She came from Silent Hill, or "West Virginia," and she sleep walks. She screams "Silent Hill! Silent Hill!" quite frequently in these dream walks.
    * Cybil Bennett is the 'good cop' that is known for her heroics. In the past, she saved a boy that was trapped in the mines of Silent Hill, and now she's all about saving little children. After a little fit that Sharon threw at the gas station, Cybil grew concerned about whether or not Rose was Sharon's mother, and if she was taking care of her. Eventually, Cybil grew to be on Rose's side, and even 'took one for the team' later on in the movie.
    * Dahlia Gillespie, played by Deborah Kara Unger, is a former member of the Order who, after the failed sacrifice of her beloved daughter, has descended into madness. Regardless of her mental state, Dahlia's concern for her daughter leads her to try and protect Sharon from the Order's agents. In the end, Dahlia is left alive, but forever trapped in Silent Hill.
    * Thomas Gucci, played by Kim Coates, is a police detective from Brahams who is investigating the disappearance of Cybil, Rose and Sharon. Though he humours Christopher's desire to search for his wife and child, he ultimately has little desire to explore the town of Silent Hill. As a young man, he found the injured Alessa and took her to the hospital, burning his hands in the process.
    * Christabella, played by Alice Krige, is the leader of the small group of Order refugees living in their old church. It was Christabella that orchestrated the sacrifice of Alessa Gillespie and after the darkness took over the town, created the only safe haven within. In the end, Christabella fell to Alessa's horrible revenge.
    * Alessa Gillespie is the daughter of Dahlia Gillespie. At an early age, she was called 'witch' by everyone in the town. Eventually, Dahlia had to give her child to Christabella to 'purify' her. "We fight the sin, not the sinner," Christabella tells Dahlia as she realizes "What have I done?" The 'purification' goes terribly wrong, and her body remains severly burnt, as the 'Great Fire' ('The Apocolypse') rages on. Officer Gucci saves her from the fire, and brings her to the Brookhaven Hospital, where she remained for thirty years. After such a horrid life, she only wanted 'satisfaction'. 'Revenge.'
    * Unnamed Nurse (Quite Possibly Lisa Garland) This is the attending nurse to Alessa in the hospital. Her dress and role seems similar to Lisa Garland from the first Silent Hill game. Her prescence may simply be a nod to fans of the game.
